Since our founding in 2021, EAR BETTER (Ear Wax Removal) has been a Registered Nurse-led mobile Clinic. Our registered nurse has 12 years of nursing experience and is a member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), Royal College of Nursing (RCN), and Certified in Advanced Aural Care in Microsuction from Aston University. At EAR BETTER we offer patients all the attention and care needed from the comfort of their own home.

My Story

EAR BETTER Ear Wax Removal is a growing Nurse-led Service in the Local Area of Cannock. I studied Nursing at Wolverhampton University for 3 years and have 12 years of nursing experience treating patients in Secondary Care but also Primary Care(in the Community) from working on an Elderly Care Medical Ward to having experience working in A&E. My nursing background then took me over to work in Dudley as a Community Staff Nurse within a District Nursing Team where I had the pleasure of meeting lots of different patients from young to elderly, from all different backgrounds and religions, visiting them in their own environment and also running Wound Care Clinics. I currently still work within the NHS as a Registered Community Nurse in the local area. I have also attended Aston University and I am now certified in Advanced Aural Care.

Our Approach

At EAR BETTER Ear Wax Removal, we follow a 4 step approach to keep our patients safe.

-Medical History taking/Consent form

-Ear Examination and Digital otoscopy

-Procedure

-Report back to your General Practitioner (GP) if required.

Usually a 30 minute procedure

May require a second visit if unable to remove wax on the first visit.

AGE RESTRICTIONS 18+

COVID SAFE PPE will be worn in line with government guidelines.

includes Blood pressure check and pulse, Blood glucose check, Oxygen sats check, Temperature checks, Bmi Checks and Nutritional Advice given.

Referral back to your General Practitioner (gp) with consent.

Why Microsuction?

Microsuction is currently the gold standard in ear wax removal. The Benefits of Microsuction is that it is one of the safest method to clean the ear. The professional treating you will look down your ear using a microscope, otoscope or headloupe, this helps to magnify the ear which in turn makes it easier to assess the ear and treat. It is safe to use on perforiated ear drums, pain free, less risk of ear infections as you are not introducing water into the ear such as irrigation techniques. The Microsuction technique is done by using a small suction device without the use of water.
